With the rise in technology, we are experiencing a better world. Digital Revolution(Third Industrial Revolution) is influencing our lives in a rapid way. Within a few years, we have seen many great inventions in it. We now have better roads, excellent health services, better facilities in every area of the life. But the way we use technology today could have a huge impact on us in the future. Are we addicted to this so-called technology?

One of the major rise is in the social media sector. Social media refers to websites and applications that are designed to allow people to share content quickly, efficiently, and in real-time. It is very good medium for sharing information among family members and friends. We all remain connected irrespective of the place.

“When you give everyone a voice and give people power, the system usually ends up in a really good place.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO & Founder of Facebook

Are we using social media the way we should use?

No, we do not. We are just addicted. Whenever we get free time, we start searching for the content that only make us sluggish and lethargic. We do not give time for the things that are more valueable to us. We are just busy in liking, commenting, uploading. To do something great, we need to have a full dedication to that particular thing which we want to accomplish. Social media is an interruption in doing so.

In student life, social media has its own impact. In this age, one has to decide his/her career and choose one of the paths which he/she likes. To determine a purpose is not only necessary but to work on it is also important. It's not that we should not enjoy this phase of life. But too much of social media can be threatening.

In the period of tremendous competition, if we would give our precious time to social media, we would be left with nothing. Most successful people in the world are not addicted to this. They use the technology only for their progress. They use it as a weapon and fight for success.

Many of us have eye problems. One of the reason is that we use mobile phones for long hours. Our eye also demands rest. For most people, depression and stress, are other side effects of heavy use of social media. Social media can delay our bedtime and reduce the quality of our sleep.

“Stay hungry, stay foolish.”

Steve Jobs
