Book Review
Book: | Tuesdays with Morrie |
Author: | Micth Albom |
Publisher: | Sphere |
'When you know how to die, you know how to live'. These lines remind me of my mortal nature. Most of us think that we have enough time to complete our responsibilities. But the truth is, time is slipping away. What if we could learn lessons on living from someone who has experienced life to the fullest. Tuesdays with Morrie is all about Mitch Albom(Author) and his professor Morrie Schwartz. It is a true story that teaches how to live.
Mitch decides to meet Morrie after hearing about his deteriorating condition. Mitch is anxious as he is going to meet Morrie after 16 years. Although he promised to stay in touch after graduation, he failed due to his busy lifestyle. Morrie is suffering from an incurable disease called Lou Gehrig's disease(ALS).
Mitch is living a lavish life. He is happy with all the things he has. After meeting Morrie again after 16 years, Mitch learns the difference between temporary happiness and internal happiness. He realizes that something is still missing in his life.
Morrie wants to teach the final lesson to his student Mitch. He starts sharing some valuable bits of life lessons every Tuesday. Some of the teachings I want to mention are as follows.
It is one of the best books I ever read. I am sure that I will refer to this book again in the future whenever required. At certain moments it made me even cry. It is a book filled with emotions and is full of positive vibes. If you love to read true stories, especially about life, then you must give it a try.
