Book:The Alchemist
Author:Paulo Coelho
Publisher:Harper Collins Publishers

Many people see dreams, but few can make them a reality. In childhood, we get fascinated by little things. As we grow, we forget about passion, fascination and destiny. In the end, we get caught up in the rat race. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said that "Dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep."

"The Alchemist" is a book that tells everything about dreams and destiny. It was originally written in Portuguese in 1988 by Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. This captivating novel is all about the Andalusian shepherd who lived his dream irrespective of the difficulties he faced. Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd, keeps getting dreams about the treasure near Egypt. But he is not able to take that first step towards his dream. After meeting with an old king, he decides to pursue his dream. The whole journey of Santiago is inspirational and worth reading.

“One is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

How he crosses the Mediterranean and Sahara to find the hidden treasure is beautifully illustrated? He fells in love with the desert and its mysticism. What happened in the end? Does he discover the fortune in the Pyramids of Egypt?

“The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

The story is full of adventure and thrill. When you follow your destiny, you have to make difficult choices. Santiago faces the same situation several times in a journey towards his destiny. The book also explains that the journey to your destiny is also important rather just destiny itself. Failure is an important aspect when you follow your dream. The way Santiago dealt with failure and stayed positive is admirable.

“The simple things are also the most extraordinary things, and only the wise can see them.” ― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

The whole plot is thrilling and fascinating. "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." The entire story revolves around the above line. The book is full of captivating quotes. I recommend the book to people who want to pursue their dream.
